git clone - error: index-pack died of signal 11

I know this has been asked before, a while ago. But I was wondering if 
this issue has been fixed yet. I'm doing a git clone of a large git 
repository using Cygwin and it fails:

Administrator@MATER2K8SHPT /cygdrive/d/cygwin
$ git clone gitolite@172.20.10.200:axcient
Cloning into 'axcient'...
remote: Counting objects: 169130, done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (74011/74011), done.
fatal: write error: Broken pipe169130), 282.85 MiB | 19.03 MiB/s
error: index-pack died of signal 11
fatal: index-pack failed
