'list-packages function in Emacs 24.5.2 causes core dump

I'm getting a core dump from the latest Emacs 24.5.2 when I run the
'list-packages function (package manager for sites like ELPA and MELPA
http://ergoemacs.org/emacs/emacs_package_system.html)

I think the offending code is here:
/usr/share/emacs/24.5/lisp/emacs-lisp/package.el.gz
/usr/share/emacs/24.5/lisp/emacs-lisp/package.elc

Note that I use Emacs 24.5.1 on ArchLinux and I don't have this problem.
