libpng is the official reference library for the Portable Network
Graphics (PNG) image format.

This release updates the default version to the latest 1.6 stable
branch, with several packaging changes to ease future transitions to
newer versions.  The legacy versions, which remain for backwards
compatibility, have all been updated for CVE-2013-6954.
