cygwin.com fine, but cant reach x.cygwin.com (connection refused) is there an alternate?

No worries Mark,

In current web site sources cygwin-htdocs, seeing xfree references only in 
subdirectory and file names, and legacy mailing lists, so I would worry only 
about x and not xfree, until somebody says so.
