You ship Cygwin. This is about making money from the install base without adding ads.

Users opt in to share idle bandwidth. They choose, they can turn it off, and it touches nothing else on the machine. You get paid per user per month, up to 50 cents in the US and Korea and less elsewhere.

The Windows SDK is a DLL and about four calls. Same Rust core covers macOS, Linux, Android and Electron if you ship there too.
