A new release of coreutils, 5.3.0-3, is available.

NEWS
====
This is a new upstream release.  It is designated unstable by the upstream
author (compared to the stable 5.2.1), but only because it introduces some
POSIX-compliance fixes for the first time; after several weeks of being
available for testing, there have been few complaints on the cygwin list.
   See below for the NEWS from the upstream release.

In addition to upstream patches, this release has the following cygwin
patches:  df(1) is fixed to allow --local to work and is more informative
for -T.  kill(1) is bundled under the name gkill, since cygutils already
provides kill and procps provides prockill (not to mention the each shell
has a builtin kill), about the only thing this buys you is the nicer
listing of signals with `gkill -t'.  uptime(1) is omitted because it is
available from the procps package and the GNU version has no additional
features.  pwd(1) is fixed from the test release 5.3.0-2 to no longer
cause a floppy scan when listing in /cygdrive.  Also, note that su(1) is
UNSUPPORTED; for more details, see http://cygwin.com/faq/faq_3.html#SEC42.

This release retains cygwin patches to cp(1), install(1), ln(1), and
mv(1), in order to more intelligently handle executables whether you typed
the '.exe' or not.

This package REQUIRES cygwin 1.5.13 or newer snapshots, because of fixed
POSIX-compliance bugs and added methods since earlier versions.  If you
are running on a system with FAT drives (Windows 95, 98, ME, or a
FAT-mounted drive otherwise), cygwin 1.5.13 has some known bugs that
affect several coreutils, such as touch(1).  To avoid those bugs, you can
use a snapshot, wait for cygwin 1.5.14, or remain with cygwin 1.5.12 and
coreutils 5.2.1-5.  When building from source, you will need your own
version of automake 1.9.5 or later (until the cygwin automake version is
updated) if you want `make -k check' to get past the spurious failures
caused by bugs in the testsuite.

DESCRIPTION
===========
GNU coreutils provides a collection of commonly used utilities essential
to a standard POSIX environment.  It comprises the former textutils,
sh-utils, and fileutils packages.  The following executables are included:

UPDATE
======
To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the http://cygwin.com/ web page.  This downloads setup.exe to your
system.  Save it and run setup, answer the questions, then look for
'coreutils' in the 'Base' category.

Because of packaging conflicts between coreutils-5.2.1-5,
cygutils-1.2.5-1, gettext-0.14.1-1, libiconv-1.9.2-1, and procps-010801-2,
upgrading any of these packages may delete a file provided by another.
Running `cygcheck -c' will show you if upgrading left a package
incomplete, in which case you should reinstall that package.
