Question for MaxB: Any hope for fixing the current setup hang?

the postinstall script for xorg-x11-fnts (and -f100, fscl and fcyr) takes 
a long time too. I'm not sure if a slow machine with all fonts installed and
maybe some extra windows fonts can do it in 60 seconds. timeouts are always 
a bad idea.
